10.06.13

THE BODEGA SOCIAL CLUB, NOTTINGHAM

In association with Coyote Records:

Coyote Records are a label who’ve been pushing grime-centered sounds since their inception early last summer, boasting releases from Mista Men’s Mella Dee, TS7 and most recently, the monstrous vinyl-only ‘Wavey’ EP from Girls Music protégé Walter Ego. With their latest offering from Australia-based producer Arctic out in June and forthcoming bits from OH91 and Nottingham’s Spare, Coyote’s ability to harness new producer talent has seen them forge a formidable reputation in a short space of time.

KAHN
Deep Medi/Punch Drunk/Black Box

Bristolian experimentalist Kahn refuses to settle on one genre, preferring instead to craft sounds best heard coming out of a huge system. As his discography shows, Kahn’s been snapped up by many key UK labels and has proved himself to be one of the most exciting artists currently working in bass-heavy dance music. Kahn has been behind some of the best dubstep and grime of the last couple of years, with ‘Percy’, ‘Like We Used To’ and ‘Tehran’ all firm favourites amongst us at One Forty and Lemon.

WEN
Keysound/Badimup

Hailing from Kent, Wen has a foot firmly planted in the dark spaciousness of classic dubstep, with his productions still owing debt to vintage grime. It’s the contrast between intensity and emptiness that makes Wen’s productions the sort of music that—just like early dubstep—sounds awe-inspiringly powerful on a club soundsystem. The title track of his Keysound debut, Commotion, features intricately placed Dot Rotten vocal samples and snapping snares which have been murdering dances nationwide.

OH91
Coyote

Also Bristol-based, Coyote Records new recruit OH91 bridges the gap between dubstep, garage and grime in true Bristol style. Establishing himself as a versatile DJ and producer, OH91 has gained widespread blog support for his production and a loyal following for his storming club sets, where he mixes genres seamlessly to devastating effect.
